Biking the High Country of NC

Regardless of your skill level or preferred style of biking, you can easily find a perfect spot to practice it. One of the great benefits of cycling in the High Country is that area residents take unusual heed of riders due to the fact that they accustomed to sharing the road with them. There is some of the best Mountain Biking Trails as well as Road Biking throughout the High Country and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Here is some of the information to help you get started as to how you might spend your time biking the high country.

While there are chain restaurants in Boone, there are also many special unique restaurants throughout the High Country in Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk. We encourage you to try to wonderful cuisine from these fine local establishments

There are many wonderful Golf courses available in the surrounding High Country of North Carolina. Many of them are private clubs, and a few are publicly available. We have a few homes that have membership to some of the private clubs. If you reserve one of these homes, membership privileges are available to include golf as well as other amenities, such as a pool, tennis, restaurant, etc.

Fishing & Boating

Boone North Carolina and the pristine High Country Mountains of Western North Carolina are premier destinations for fly fishing and trout fishing in the Southeast! The North Carolina Mountains are a preferred destination for fly fishing enthusiasts from all over the region. The pristine waterways, unsurpassed scenery and streams teeming with trout provide a powerful lure for fishermen. The High Country area provides the opportunity to go for brook, brown and rainbow trout in a wide variety of wonderful locations. Also, there are several great fishing guide companies in Boone that will be happy to provide equipment and take you and your group on a fun float fishing trip.

Hiking / Nature

Hiking is perhaps one of the most popular outdoor activities in the High Country. There are numerous places to check out, and a variety of trails that would be appropriate for any level. Horse Back Riding

One fun and adventurous way to enjoy the mountains is to go horseback riding. There are many area stables in the High Country that offer guided trail rides, as well as many trails in general that equestrian enthusiasts of all kind will enjoy.

The Beech Mountain Club

Wonderful Club Amenities available to the guests of homes that have Club Membership. Ski Resorts and Snow Tubing

North Carolinas High Country, known as the Ski Capital of the South, is home to three premier resorts - Appalachian Ski Mtn, Beech Mtn Resort and Sugar Mtn Resort. Not a skier? We are home to the largest snow tubing park on the east coast. Hawksnest features more than 20 lanes of tubing fun. Also, each ski resort offers other winter activities, including ice skating, snow shoeing and tubing. Another favorite option is the youth sledding hill in the Town of Beech Mountain. This free sledding hill is open all winter for children 12 and under.
