Description

Welcome to Majestic Mountain House!

Fun Facts about this house:
The Majestic Mountain Haus was originally built in 1971 using wood and beams from one of the oldest churches in Rowan County, North Carolina; which was dismantled in the early 1970's.  The bar downstairs was the original ticket counter in the train station of the steam-powered Best Friend of Charleston which was the first locomotive train built in the United States, and had its inaugural run in 1830!

*** Majestic Mountain Haus does not have Air Conditioning.  (Enjoy cool mountain breezes above 4000 feet in elevation.)

***** There is space to park 2 cars only.  No more.  Additional parking is possible across from Town of Beech Mountain Town Hall.

This lodge has both new comforts and amenities as well as original/pre-original elements and decor which together offer a unique yet charming Mountain Vacation experience for groups of up to 19 people at a high-elevation wooded property with year-round mountain views, an outdoor wood-burning fire pit, and exactly one mile to the slopes of Ski Beech, the ice skating rink, and the sledding hill!  Also lining the mountain are countless walking and hiking trails-both marked and unmarked, as well as numerous rivers, creeks, lakes and streams.  Buckeye Lake Recreation Center offers lots of indoor and outdoor activities for all who wish to partake (--> Buckeye Recreation Center <--).

Majestic Mtn Haus opens up to vaulted ceilings with exposed beams in the open-concept living, dining, and kitchen areas.  The living room offers a large wood-burning fireplace, comfortable leather sofas, a large flat panel HDTV with DVD player, and massive windows which frame the Mountain Views as well as a large sliding glass door which leads out onto the patio.  The dining area boasts the original wood dining table which seats 10 people; beside the dining table is seating for 4 more at the bar area separating the dining from the kitchen.  The kitchen offers unique Quartz countertops and stainless appliances.  There is a 1/2 bathroom/powder room also on the main floor.

The main floor offers two queen master suites with full bathrooms, and a third bedroom with two twin beds. One of the 2 main-floor master suites has a HDTV with expanded digital cable programming.

Upstairs offers a spacious loft bedroom with a full bed and a twin bed, as well as a full bathroom with a shower.

Downstairs offers two king master suites with full bathrooms - one of which has a double vanity, and a third bunk bedroom which has 2 twin over full bunk beds (2 twin top-bunk beds, 2 full bottom-bunk beds) and a half bathroom.  One of the 2 downstairs master suites has a HDTV with expanded digital cable programming.

Downstairs opens up to a large central den with a bar and game room.  There is a comfy central L-shaped sofa as well as an additional seating area with two comfy stuffed chairs and coffee table.  There is a 8-foot slate pool table as well as a 12-foot African mahogany shuffleboard table.  There is a large Smart TV with BluRay player.  The focal point of the room is a huge solid-wood central bar, which is nearly 200 years old, and was originally the ticket counter in a train station.  It was saved from destruction and repurposed to serve as a wonderful bar with six bar stools.  Behind this bar is a bar sink and fridge.  There is a second table and chairs in the den for game-playing or for additional dining.

The lodge dines up to 26 guests. dining options are as follows: on the main floor there is a dining table which seats ten (10) people.  Beside the dining table is a bar top which seats four (4) people.  Downstairs at the central bar there are six (6) bar stools, and the table downstairs seats another six (6) people for a grand total of 26 people.

The main floor rear deck has numerous rocking chairs along with a picnic-style outdoor dining table and a gas grill.  The downstairs rear deck features the hot tub as well as steps out into the back yard and down to the fire pit.

Such a gorgeous house, we had 11 adults and 7 kids (ages 2-11), and we never felt like it was that many people. There is such a great layout of common space and layout made it possible for us to all be there together. We had a wonderful time!

Although it was specified in the contract & I realize this is not a hotel, where there is "maid service" daily, it may be nice if you provided a new roll of toilet paper on roll plus an additional roll on back of toilet, for a convenience to your guests

Great response time, overall great customer service. This property needs more than two out door trash cans, 4 are needed for the amount of guests this property can accommodate. But over all great!

Notes

PLEASE HAVE A 4WD and TIRE CHAINS in Winter and early Spring!  Although most primary roads will be salted and plowed, snow and ice makes driving even on plowed roads very difficult for vehicles without Four Wheel Drive and sometimes tire chains or studded tires.  When you get up to the higher parts of Beech Mountain, especially near the Ski Slopes, there will be snow and ice all winter and early Spring, and some of the roads are not plowed.  4WD and Tire Chains are strongly recommended for all winter reservations (November through March).

Parking for 2 vehicles MAXIMUM, and only in front of the house itself.  If you plan to have more than 2 vehicles, extra vehicles will need to be parked at the Ski Beech parking area about a mile away, and not in front of neighboring houses. The Beech Mtn Club is also right around the corner (past the left turn onto Grassy Gap Loop Road) on Lake Road, and you are welcome to park additional vehicles there if necessary.
Please honor this request as we have had problems with this before.  Also please do not use neighboring trash receptacles.  If you have more trash than will fit in the two outdoor trash cans provided, please take it to the Beech Mountain Trash and Recycling center about 1.5 miles from house in the village on Beech Mountain to dispose.

There is a woodstove on the lower level which is currently not functional.  We are ordering parts to repair this woodstove, but it is not advertised as part of the property and therefore is not usable.  The main floor fireplace and the outdoor fire pit are both available for guest use.

Beech Mountain Club access is available; passes must be purchased and arranged prior to arrival.  Club amenities change throughout the year, and different amenities and access are available seasonal; please visit Club website for more info and details.
