Description

Welcome to Beech Mountain Lodge!

Bedrooms: 7 Sleeping Spots: 36 (Please see detailed sleeping arrangement below)

Only a 2 mile drive to the ski slopes, this retreat is located at the Beech Mountain Ski Resort in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. It is situated in the Pisgah National Forest beside a mountain brook, nestled among lots of rhododendron and mountain flora. There are a wide range of year-round activities, with winter activities including snow-skiing with 15 slopes & ten lifts (when good snow), sledding, ice skating on a 7,000 foot outdoor skating rink, two snowboard parks, and a warm fire to relax by after a day out. There are many other year-round activities as specified below.

The house is designed to handle large groups and families. It is suitable for overnight meetings where presentations can be made using a computer with large screen projection and sound system in the great room (combination living/dining/kitchen), which can seat up to 30 people. If you are looking for a quiet place that is comfortable, situated in a small resort town up in the mountains, and can handle a lot of people, this is a great deal and may very well meet your needs. We also can expand our sleeping capacity considerably through agreements with adjacent houses.

Please call with any questions, and we`ll be happy to see if we can accommodate you. We cater to church retreats, church youth groups, spiritual retreats, prayer retreats, missionary executive meetings, and business planning meetings among many others.

We have many family groups and family reunions come enjoy the Beech Mountain Lodge. The Lodge was finished in 2008.

**********************************************************************************

The large stone wood-burning fireplace has seating for a large group, so that families can enjoy being together.

This home has two giant-screen home theaters, one upstairs, (10 foot screen with surround sound), and one on main level (7 foot screen with surround sound). Both theaters allow you to connect your digital camera and/or computer and watch the day's activities in almost life size. You can also watch DVD movies, and we have the very popular Nintendo Wii game console hooked directly to the large screen and sound system. A number of groups recently have enjoyed this very much. You can also bring your own video game console (xBox, etc) and hook to the system, as well as hook an iPod/iPad/iPhone to the system to listen to music and/or watch movies from your own iPod (Apple to VGA adapter recommended-not provided-if you have Apple Computer). You can present anything on your computer on the large screen and through the media system.

See picture of kitchen to get an idea of the working space you'll have.  The kitchen is open to the living/sitting area.  So those working in the kitchen can talk with those sitting in the living room by the fireplace, and they don`t feel left out of conversations.

The dining room, which is part of the great room, seats up to 17 people (14 at the dining table [tight fit, again, see pictures], additional 3 at the kitchen island). The upstairs family room can seat an additional 28 for meals.

We have wireless high-speed family friendly Internet service, and you can bring your own computer and connect to the surround sound media system, and project all media from your computer to a drop-down screen and speakers. We do not have satellite or cable TV as we rely on the Internet as our primary media feed, so bring a computer and you can hook up and see everything through the projector and surround sound system.

*** There is a daily (or weekly) cost for guest passes, and there are user fees for each amenity (except the pool, which is included with the purchase of the guest pass). Guest membership fees, greens fees, tennis court fees and other usage fees may apply for Club activities and will be paid directly by you, the guest, to the club, after we arrange for your guest usage. • The Pump House is the food outlet adjacent to the Pool and open seven days a week between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The menu for the Pump House starts with pizza and offers family fare with an emphasis on selections for children who participate in the Day Camp program located adjacent to the Pool facility.
  • Golf Course: The beautiful 18-hole ridge-top layout stretches over elevations between 4,200 and 4,700 feet providing respite from summer heat with average temperature rarely exceeding 72 degrees. Golfers enjoy excellent vistas of mountain ranges in Tennessee and Virginia.

The team was very communicative and helpful. I'm happy to stay at another property but likely not this one for our group.

The property was advertised to fit more than 30 people and this house is really too small for that amount of guest ....6 people or more are expected to fit in rooms and there is little to no storage for bags or belongings. We also were not aware that the owner lives on property and takes up one side of the house. He was very nice but we just had the expectations that the whole house was ours for the week which was not the case.also the living room space is really too small to accommodate a large group of adults

What a great place to bring a group for a retreat, a vacation, a conference, a family reunion, or any other reason for gathering together! The house was really big, and even with the number of folks we had, it wasn't hard to find a quiet place to read or just enjoy some rest.

The house was PERFECT. The only reason I'm giving 4.5 stars is because the house is a little difficult to find and several people in our party got lost trying to get there. But once you are there, it is amazing!

I cannot say enough about the kindness and professionalism extended to us before, during and after our trip to the mountains. They were there to explain things concerning the house and its functions; they helped with questions concerning little things we wouldn't know; they were always kind and always willing to go the extra mile. A true blessing!

We stayed with a very large group, four families!!! We found the house to be very comfortable and well maintained. There was plenty of room for everyone to have their own bed, which are very comfy. The owners were so accommodating and very kind. They were available to us for whatever we needed during our stay. That was a plus! Overall, we had a great stay and would visit Beech Mountain again.

Everyone was super impressed with the cabin. We had plenty of space to rest and to conduct workshops. We'd planned to stay in and cook all weekend, and were very relieved to find all of the cooking utensils that we needed. Don came by when we first arrived and showed us how to use the technology. He was very welcoming and helpful!

Im from Maryland and Im 16 years old. My family came here to this Cabin for Thanksgiving. We wanted to be together to remember to be thankful for our great support system. This is a great place for family time, if you enjoy it. Family is what matters. Sometimes you need to un-tune with technology and enjoy whats going on around you because youre missing the precious moments of life. I hope that you learn to appreciate this place as much as we did and enjoy the moments! Thanksgiving 2012

My husband and I have been out on the trails each day. The one that starts at the lake and ends at Tamarac is easy and fun for us and the grand-nephews and cousins. We also went on the Falls Trail today which was fun, including some time on the nautical jungle gym at the Rec Center. Lunch at the Falls was a plus. We also took a tour to Grandfather Mountain and a bit on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Great homemade food and games and puzzles and thousands of conversations between friends and relatives was the best! 11/19-24/2012

First -- the photos on the ads don't do this home justice. We stayed here for just one weekend in mid-October 2012. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. The cabin is large and still manages to be cozy. We had 19 people and there was room to spare. There are enough nooks to ensure privacy for teenagers to hide, adults to play games, and a group to watch movies - all at the same time. The place was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. All the luxuries you would expect: Plenty of bathrooms, hot water, heat works great, fireplace, heated floors, etc. The neighborhood is fantastic. There are hiking trails nearby that match any of the trails at Linville Falls (pick up a local hiking trail guide at Fred's Mercantile on your way in), including waterfalls and wilderness and wildlife. Highly recommend this lodge. Book it as early as you can. (October, 2012)
