Welcome to The High Life!

This home is close to Tweetsie Railroad, all the shopping and fun of Blowing Rock, many hiking trails, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and also within a very easy walk to the ski slopes of Appalachian Ski Mountain!  It is located on Galax Circle, just 0.1 mile from the slopes!  Galax Circle is a mostly flat road, well maintained and plowed, and you get to Galax going down the main road going to Appalachian Ski Mountain (Edmisten Road and Ski Mountain Rd) ... so you know the Appalcahian Ski Mountain will keep their life line plowed and open!

The High Life has all new furniture, new linens, and new carpet throughout.  The home has great views from the wrap around deck, the living room, kitchen and dining room through large glass french doors.

One great feature of this home is it large flat area for parking and only 1 small step up into the house.  There is a main floor bedroom making this ideal for anyone who wants a bedroom available for one floor living.

The Main Floor of this property has the following:

 - Master bedroom with a Queen Bed
 - Master Bath with large soaking tub and separate shower
 - Half Bath
 - Laundry Room with Washer and Dryer
 - Kitchen
 - Dining
 - Living Room with 2 great new couches and a large new flat screen TV

The upstairs has:

 - Full bath in hallway
 - Loft with Futon that folds out to sleep 2
 - Table great for games and puzzles
 - Folding cot for an additional guest to use, as needed

The lower level has an awesome game and media area including:

 - Second living area with futon (can sleep 2)
 - Leather club chairs
 - Large flat screen TV
 - Combination air-hockey/pool table

While this home is terrific for ski season with its excellent proximity to Appalachian Ski Mountain, this location is ideal all year round due to its central location right between Boone and Blowing Rock.  If you like the quaint town of Blowing Rock with its antique stores, wonderful park with tennis courts and pool, Art in the Park, and Winterfest, etc., then you are only a short 7 minute drive to downtown Blowing Rock.  If you are big fan of Appalachian State University for parents weekend, graduation, or one of the great football weekends, this home is just 7 minutes to Boone and only another 5 minutes to heart of Appalachian State campus.

The team was friendly and professional.

We heard mice/rats scuttling around in the walls both nights, which was disturbing. On a more minor note, the kitchen was somewhat outdated. Overall disappointed by the experience.

Great vacation spot. The only thing that could make it better is a fireplace. A little sparse on kitchen cookware: could really use a colander, sharp/bread/chopping knives, maybe a bowl or two. It was great to have tweetsie right behind and the kids really liked hearing the train throughout the day.

My wife and I have been renting a short stay (up to two weeks) summer place in the Boone/Blowing Rock area for 20 years. This was my first no-human contact rental experience. I made no calls and asked no questions just to see how it would go. Happy to report that the procedure worked flawlessly. Electronic key system is pure genius, it worked perfectly. Emails were excellent and explained all the needed information.

The downstairs "Man Cave" home theatre system did not seem to be connected properly. I could not get the DVD to play until I saw a cable laying loose and connected it to the TV in place of the Sat connection. The instructions were of no use since nothing was connected properly. No big deal, just thought I would mention it. All 3 Sat TV's worked fine. A clothes iron and ironing board would be a bonus, we looked everywhere but could not find one. A small decent frying pan would also be nice. All appliances worked fine, no problems.

Very nice place and very clean!

The only thing we found to be difficult was the a/c unit cooled second and first and basement and it was hot on the second floor and cool on the first and freezing in the basement.

A beautiful place to spend the 4th. Watch the fireworks from tweetsie and enjoyed morning time on the porch. Great neighbor to walk and enjoy the quietness of the mountains at night. Tweetsie adds for some daytime fun throughout the day.

This was a time for family to get together, specifically to visit Tweetsie Park. There were three families - my wife and I, our daughter and her husband and 2 daughters (one 3 months old), and our other daughter and her husband and 2 young sons. The location was perfect for the purpose of our trip - we enjoyed hearing the train throughout the day (and night!), and the trip to Tweetsie was a short one. The view off the balcony was simply gorgeous, with the yellow and orange leaves. The pool table (flip to a air hockey game) was fun in the "man cave", as well as the large screen TV. I also enjoyed walking around the "circle", viewing the various cabins in the community.

The property was well maintained. The beds were comfortable. There are only two things that could be improved. The channel selection on Dish network was very limited. There were small pots and larger pots but not " medium" sized pots.

Just got home after a terrific stay at The High Life property (took a side trip or two on the way home.) The service was first rate as was the property itself. I confess I was a bit nervous about the whole "on line" aspect of reservations, communications, etc. Turned out to be unwarranted -- as I believe Mark Twain once said, "I am an old man. In my life, I have seen many troubles -- most of which never happened". Hope to be able to come back next year. Gary and Sharon (June 15, 2012)

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Our stay at The High Life was awesome! We really enjoyed our two nights there. The house was great and really nice, it was really perfect for everyone staying there. We loved the location to Appalachian Ski Mountain. We stayed to ski so that was awesome! App didn't have much snow while we were there due to the unusual winter weather, but we went to Sugar instead one day. It was great that the house was so close to another resort. We really enjoyed our stay very much! It was great! Such a nice house! (December 29, 2011)
