Description

Welcome to Trailhead Cabin!

Trailhead is a comfortable log cabin rental centrally located between Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, NC. This cabin is located on Old Turnpike Gravel Road, right near Hebron Rock Colony Trail Head.

As the name implies, the Trailhead Cabin is basically right at the trail head leading to Hebron Rock Colony, a popular destination with water falls.  There are over 70 freshwater swimming holes around North Carolina, but we are fortunate that many are located right here in the High Country! One of the most popular summer activities around Boone is to take advantage of area hiking trails and swimming holes. Locals, Appalachian State University Students and tourists alike love to find these natural water parks, but locating one can be tricky. If you stay at the Trailhead Cabin, you don`t even have to get in the car to go to one of the most desired trail hikes here in the High Country.

There is a Queen sized bedroom on the main floor. Upstairs in the loft level, there is a large Master King Bedroom.

** The main floor and loft have the ambiance and feel of an authentic log home.

*** The privacy you can enjoy at Trailhead Cabin is accessed via a 2 mile maintained gravel road. After heavy rains, the driveway can develop ruts; which requires skillful and careful driving if your vehicle has low clearance. A higher clearance vehicle is recommended. During winter weather, snow is cleared as best as can be expected on a steep gravel driveway with ruts. 4 wheel drive is required to negotiate the driveway during winter weather. ***

***** There is a garage header structural issue that has been addressed by supporting the header with posts.  So a car will not fit into the garage with the posts in place.

Main Floor:
- Queen Bedroom (Sleeps 2)
- Full Bath with Tub/Shower

Upstairs (Loft Level):

The property was infested with bugs and miles. We had to sweep up lady bugs and remove a glue trap that had a mole. Also, one of our charging cables was chewed through by a mole. There were stink bugs inside the cabin and we had to deal with lady bugs daily. Not just a few, there were probably 50-75. The stink bugs were less. It still not a comfortable feeling. Also, the locking mechanism was less than desirable. We had several issues with the codes to begin with and then had to enter it several times when we returned to the cabin. Sofas were not comfortable and appeared unclean.

I made two calls to your team and they were very friendly and helpful with answering my questions and giving directions when need.

The cabin was fine, it was a bit more "rustic" than expected. Enjoyed the porch very much when the weather permitted.

The basement, which includes bunk beds, has a strong musty/moldy smell and we did not use the basement. We had one person sleep on the couch and one on the pull out sofa in the loft. The loft was fine, but having to use the couch was unfortunate.

Nice, friendly lady on the phone was able to assist us with entering the property.

A neighbor's dog came running through the yard and tried to attack our little boy. Our boy didn't get bitten, but might be nice to remind city dwellers that they're visiting an area where there is no leash law, so watch your kids.

The key code did not work. We did not have cell phone service at the property. I went halfway down the mountain to get cell service and called your office. I spoke with Anna. She was wonderful and within about 15 minutes we had access to the property.

We very much enjoyed our stay. I recommend more emphasis on the location's proximity to the Hebron Falls Trail. Also give directions from the property via Old Turnpike Rd. to Blowing Rock. It's 40 minutes in traffic to Blowing Rock via Boone and only 10 minutes via Old Turnpike Road. We discovered this by chance.

My experience was wonderful. I received quick and helpful information when having problems entering the property upon arrival(the codes provided did not work).

Enjoyed the property and my stay. The gravel road was a little dusty, we washed the car daily and the big trucks passed us on the narrow road going and returning to the property, which made us nervous with the steep drop below. Yet, the property itself was exceptional and we loved it.

We enjoyed our stay at the Trailhead cabin. We liked the nearby trails for hiking. Lucky to have cool weather as there is no AC which worried us at first, but turned out not to be an issue. We liked the remote check in/out...very nice. We had a good time and will return in the future.

Trailhead Cabin is beautiful! It is beautifully maintained and stocked like your own home with everything you could need! The property is quiet, private and has access to walking trails. Being pet friendly was a major plus so our dogs could enjoy a weekend away with us!

Great location, close to everything we wanted to do. Cabin was great for our teenagers as they had a private place in the basement bedroom. Outside area was fantastic as we like to build camp fires.

We enjoyed our stay. Very beautiful location and plenty of space for our family to relax. We also loved the "automated check-in" and not having to go by the rental office. Very convenient option!

Enjoyed the cabin and location. Was very happy to be able to bring my dog along with us. Having "dog towels" in the house was a great idea and very helpful. Thank you for a great stay!
