This is a wonderful, comfortable log cabin rental centrally located between Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, NC. This cabin is located on Old Turnpike Road, right near Hebron Rock Colony Trail Head.
As the name implies, the Trailhead Cabin is basically right at the trail head of one of the most sought after trails here in the High Country. There are over 70 freshwater swimming holes around North Carolina, but we are fortunate that many are located right here in the High Country! One of the most popular summer activities around Boone is to take advantage of area hiking trails and swimming holes. Locals, Appalachian State University Students and tourists alike love to find these natural water parks, but locating one can be tricky. If you stay at the Trailhead Cabin, you don't even have to get in the car to go to one of the most desired trail hikes here in the High Country. The Hebron Rock Colony trailhead is just 0.1 mile down the flat, gravel, lowly traveled road from the cabin. So, just head out and go for a wonderful hike! You can build up a little sweat on the shady hike down to the river. Once there, you can occupy yourself with the massive boulders, secluded swimming holes and natural trails off the river. It’s easy to lose track of time and spend hours at this scenic trail and swimming hole.
Right as you step in the door, you are taken by the wonderful heavy timber vaulted ceiling of the log cabin. You step into the living room with a tall stone gas fireplace, comfortable seating to enjoy both the fire as well as the new large flat screen TV mounted on the wall. As you look up, you will see the loft where there is a full sized pull out couch for additional guests you may want to bring.
This home has just been updated by the owners throughout 2012. They are looking forward to once again using their cabin, and hope you will enjoy it as much as they do. There is a cozy Queen sized bedroom on the main floor with luxurious bedding to snuggle down in. Upstairs in the loft level, there is a large Master King Bedroom with vaulted timber ceilings.
The Kitchen and Dining area are also on the main floor, just off the living room. As you dine, you will be able to enjoy the fireplace.
There are stairs off the kitchen area that takes you downstairs to the bunk room. The bunk room has a good foosball table and kids air hockey table in the room, which are always fun to play. The kids room also has a TV with a video player.
Just to recap, here are the detailed sleeping arrangements one more time:
- Queen Bedroom (Sleeps 2)
- Full Bath with Tub/Shower
Upstairs (Loft Level):
- Full sized pull out couch in the loft (Sleeps 2)
- King Bed in master bedroom (Sleeps 2)
- Full Bath with Shower
- Bunk Bedroom (Sleeps 2)
- Games in this room: Foosball and Air Hockey
While the Trailhead Log Cabin is a terrific home for the non-ski season with it's central location to all the High Country has to offer throughout the year, this location is also a great spot if you are wanting to go skiing at Sugar Mountain. Sugar Mountain is just a short 9.7 Mile drive all along state maintained roads. This home is on a gravel road, but it is not a steep road, and the state maintains it fully. Then it is all main state maintained roads that are paved.
This home's location and value price should be a great place for anyone for any season. We hope you will come enjoy a vacation cabin rental at Trailhead Cabin in the mountains of the High Country of North Carolina, located just between Boone and Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
*** The privacy you can enjoy at Trailhead Cabin is accessed via a 2 mile maintained gravel road. After heavy rains, the driveway can develop ruts; which requires skillful and careful driving if your vehicle has low clearance. A higher clearance vehicle is recommended. During winter weather, snow is cleared as best as can be expected on a steep gravel driveway with ruts. 4 wheel drive is required to negotiate the driveway during winter weather. ***

Everything was handled on-line and was easy and convienient. Thank you
We enjoyed our stay at the Trailhead cabin. We liked the nearby trails for hiking. Lucky to have cool weather as there is no AC which worried us at first, but turned out not to be an issue. We liked the remote check in/out...very nice. We had a good time and will return in the future.

Great location, close to everything we wanted to do. Cabin was great for our teenagers as they had a private place in the basement bedroom. Outside area was fantastic as we like to build camp fires.

The emails sent during the reservation process and the follow-up after check-out were very timely and including all needed information.
We enjoyed our stay. Very beautiful location and plenty of space for our family to relax. We also loved the "automated check-in" and not having to go by the rental office. Very convenient option!

Enjoyed the cabin and location. Was very happy to be able to bring my dog along with us. Having "dog towels" in the house was a great idea and very helpful. Thank you for a great stay!
