Watauga Lake and Watauga River are a short drive away. The towns of Boone and Banner Elk are both about 15 miles away. Valle Crucis is home to the Original Mast General Store and a river front community park, and is about 14 miles away. The Tennessee line is only about 7 miles away, with Watauga Lake only a few miles past the Tennessee line.
