We recently rented Valley Farmhouse Retreat for our special family gathering and celebration. Together, the 14 of us travelled from Canada to explore the area and our family heritage and found the Inn to be the perfect place! Our stay and time together was perfected by the charm, elegance and peaceful setting of this Valle Crucis property.
Each of the guest rooms were decorated with a vintage vibe including beautiful wood wainscoting on the walls from floor to ceiling, French country décor, comfortable beds, and high-quality linens. Each guest room included an ensuite with a soaking tub, tiled shower and vintage-inspired fixtures giving it the perfect feel of rustic elegance.
Our bathroom had the most beautiful double soaker tub overlooking the meadow and trees in the back.
The dining area and main kitchen were very spacious, providing us with plenty of options and spaces to dine and visit. Both kitchens were well-equipped for our culinary tastes and interests as we had so much fun sharing in the meal preparations and dinners together. There is a complete set of every tool, utensil and equipment needed to
feel like you are cooking in a professional kitchen. We had intentions of dining out more frequently but found the farmhouse such a great place to gather, we found ourselves drawn back each evening to share dinner at the farm. The Inn is also a special place to recharge as we shared conversations on the deck with sweet tea, read a book relaxing
in front of the wood fireplace in the evening, played a game of Scrabble around one of the dining tables, roasted smores around the outside fire bowl, destressed in an evening sauna before bed and planned the next day's adventure. We found The Inn to be a wonderful central location from which to explore the area's many attractions. During our
time at the Inn, we explored many area hikes, the Original Mast Stores and ice cream stop, the famous Virginia Creeper bike trail in Damascus, Watauga River, Backbone and Blowing Rock, and the quaint shops and restaurants of Boone and Banner/Elk. We also enjoyed the Bluegrass Homecoming celebration in nearby Mountain City, TN listening to
the bands lining the streets. This mountain town also hosted the annual Fiddler's convention boasting its 99th year running.
Valley Farmhouse Retreat is truly a gem. My favourite thing to do each morning was to enjoy a morning cappuccino while looking out over the misty, fog-covered grounds and watch the fog disappear as the sun rose for the day. The grounds were immaculate, the house was pristine and beautifully decorated, and the facility was well-stocked and
maintained. From the time we checked in until our departure, management was available to quickly respond to a text or phone call.
Our family felt that this farmhouse was the perfect venue for our special time together and are already planning our return!
